John Potenza​

Lieutenant

Lieutenant John Potenza is the Austin County EMS’ complaint and compliance officer.  Lt. Potenza served in the United States Marine Corps active duty from September 1989 to September 1993. 

Lt. Potenza deployed to Iraq in 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Engineer Battalion of Massachusetts Army National Guard. Lt. Potenza was the Battle NCO for the Battalion Operations Center and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his excellent work as the Battle NCO.  Lt. Potenza began his EMS career in 2000 in the Boston, MA area, completing the Paramedic program at Massachusetts Bay Community College in January 2004. 

In July 2006 he moved to the Houston area and started working for Cy-Fair VFD as a full-time paramedic.  In March of 2011, Lt. Potenza started working for Austin County EMS and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in July 2018.
